Business Beyond Borders
Business Beyond Borders
The business world continues to face unprecedented economic uncertainty, market shifts, trade risks, and rapid technological transformations. Small and medium enterprises – the backbone of economies comprising 99% of all businesses – are hit hardest by these changes.
In world where black swan events have become the norm, businesses have to find ways to reduce risk by diversifying suppliers, creating fallback options, and developing country-specific operational strategies. For many SMEs, global market and trade diversification is central to growth. Canada has set a goal of doubling its non-U.S. exports to $600 billion annually in a decade, but the reality of entering a new international market is overwhelming for smaller businesses. Owners have to take on significant risk and success is any new market is not guaranteed. Financing, market analysis, cultural differences, supply chains, and local regulations, all need precise planning for success.
